NWC Ohio | I doubt it was from a buildup of gas pressure inside the tank from the tank contents alone. Those tanks should have air vents in them to let air/water volume exchange when filling or emptying, so no pressure buildup. Whatever happened, it was a fast extreme event. I’ve seen tanks that split, but I’ve never seen one destroyed/exploded like that. However it is blown apart in similar manner to what what I see when I fill pop cans, tin cans, milk jugs etc with water and shot them with a rife. Hollow points work better, and bigger calibers aid in destruction. A sealed container increases effect also. | |
