Subject: tell me about "coil packers"

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577

I am totally not familiar with "coil packers".  I have stood next to them, but have never seen them in operation, nor have I talked about them with anyone who uses one.

I have not been happy with our yields on cereal rye..........20---40bu.

One person indicated that one reason, although we are drilling the seed, was that we were not rolling the seeded ground.

So........I am looking for a REALLY cheap cultipacker.........or a coil packer was mentioned.

The coil packer does not appear to me to be able to provide consistent down pressure.......but since I have not seen one in action, that could be all wet.

For you who use them..........how well does it work?   Would such also work to roll soybeans?

We do not run enough acres to justify a huge expense...........so, I am willing to try something, but not mortgage my wife to get it.

Thanks.
