We went to feeding whole corn in finishing diets . Kent feeds has a study on the economics of it . I have personally found the gain to be acceptable . I have done it both ways . As far as kernels growing very seldom do I see that. We had much more bloat and founder with ground corn in finishing rations as it hits their guts quicker . As for as hogs behind cattle that works wether you grind the corn or not . Used to run sows behind and they would chomp that stuff right up ! Liked the fresh warm ones the best. I do think that steam flaked corn would be the most efficent sometimes you have to use what you have.
