Subject: RE: Feeding whole corn?

Princeton,IN
Whenever I have heard a University/Extension speaker talk about feeding corm, they ALWAYS say that whole corn gets used by the cow just as well as cracked corn does. The enzyemes get inside the kernal and get the good out of it, EVEN THOUGH IT RETAINS THE WHOLE KERNAL SHAPE! What you see is just big pieces of corn. To refute this, get down on your knees, take a tea strainer, and scoop up some manure out of a cow that is being fed cracked corn. What are you going to find? LITTLE PIECES OF CORN! Big in equals big out...little in equals little out.
Yea, I know this ain't gonna settle no argument...It's just what the researchers find.
EDIT: I believe I have always heard this when discussing DRY corn. Would have to research more to comment on high mosture corn.
