| Huh???? First of all in response to your first sentence, I never said being a low cost producer means you will make a profit in dairy farming. Losing a little short term is better than losing alot short term.
After that, you lost me. Maybe you are trying to make a simple truth (the fact that one needs to be a low cost producer when producing commodities if you want to be sucessful) a little more complicated than it is in reality? I am all for exploring new ideas and thoughts, but can you explain what you meant better?
I guess I fail to see how if one can produce the same 100 pounds of milk as everybody else for say 10% less than the industry average, how that is not a key to being succesful in dairy farming to an individual? And I am not talking about using less inputs or making less milk, as there are alot of ways to reduce costs without reducing inputs.
