Virginia | Dogfennel and marestail (also called horseweed) are two different weeds but are many times thought to be the same weed.
Dogfennel is a perennial growing to 6 1/2 feet tall and marestail is a winter or summer annual growing just as tall but having a different shaped leaf. Perennials usually kill better with a late summer or fall application.
Yes, Milestone will hurt the clovers.
Do you have a current copy of the Virginia Tech Pest Management Guide? If not, I would get one through your local extension office.
Hope this helps. I can get you in touch with the Dow rep or help you get a pest guide and you can also send weed samples to VT for ID through your extension agent at no charge.
Email is in my profile. Feel free to email me if you wish.
