Assuming that the C: and D; are physically to drives (maybe a fast solid state C: and a regular (but larger capacity) D;?)

While you're thinking about it, go to you favorite electronics place (or just walmart) and get an external HD.

They've gotten very cheap for large capacity.
They connect by usb.

You can use it to make a backup copy of all those photos you are moving to the D: drive.
