Never have heard of it let along grown it. Sudan grass being a relative of corn is a little iffy, due to the nitrate issues. ALL Sudan grass here is tested for N. levels right at swathing. Exporter buyers really panic over the N. poisoning. 'Here' sudan grass can be good income or chump feed,, totally dependent on the export market. Sudan grass looks huge when swathed by by the time it's baled,, you 'might' end up with 3t/acre. More likely it'll be around 2.5T/ acre. I've not grown sudan grass, but seen guys who grew it who wound up almost giving it away..... Or they got pretty good money for it. Teff should range in the 14-16% protein, (about 2x protein compared to timothy) planted at the right time and hot summer should produce 2T/acre. |
