Nw Iowa | We live on a mile and 1/2 of gravel and most of time don’t mind it. Couple of weeks in March that are a mess .Don't buy black vehicles. I can’t remember exactly but cost to maintain tar over gravel crazy because of our freezing and thawing. Wouldn’t see any roads paved here that aren’t already. I think one of last new paved roads in our county was about 40 yrs ago.
Edit , that all said our gravel and tar roads are pretty well maintained with new gravel on bad spots every year. Will be interesting in another 10 yrs or so as we have no or very little gravel in our MN county but neighboring Iowa county has had great gravel but pits are starting to see end. If gravel becomes scarce it will be interesting.
