| While today I obviously can’t condone under age drinking or drinking and driving back in those days we had several of the local police that had that attitude and we respected them a lot more than the few with a hardline attitude. If they actually got mad at us, and I have to admit that it was always well deserved, we listened to them because they were like friends to us. When they pulled up we would go to their cars and they would roll down the windows and chat with us.
The maddest that I ever saw them was when we were ripping around town in a couple of cars shooting bottle rockets at each other. They pulled up behind us and the bottle rockets from the lead car were going right over ours and were bouncing off theirs. Those guys in the lead car were terrible shots. Lol. Ah, the good old days.
