Since the iPhone 6, most Verizon phones are “universal” which means they can be used on Verizon plus all gsm networks. However, all gsm unlocked phones Don’t work with Verizon.
I’d try to find a Verizon unlocked phone and have it as a spare.
My mom just bought a Verizon iPhone 8, And is using it on AT&T.
Phone cards, GSM unlocked etc.
