| Weaning time. What kind of preconditioning feeds are you using. I'm mixing 1/3 distillers, 1/3 shelled corn and 1/3 alfalfa in a reel mixer and pouring the coals to them as lbs. always seem to net the most profit, will sell in Nov. at ~700 lbs. I know there are a lot of pelleted feeds and guys using free choice soyhulls and hay and getting along well. My target is 3 lbs./day gain. My biggest disaster was when I tried to free choice hay and bucket feed grain, as they would gorge on hay and I could not get them to stay at the bunk and consume all the grain they needed. What kind of programs are you using and which ones have been a disaster for you. Do you think preconditioning even pays? | |
