Northeast Indiana | The wife and I and our 2 big dogs went out that way a few years ago on a 2 week drive. Went through the badlands, Yellowstone, Tetons, and Pike's Peak just name a few. Every morning when we got back onto the road and driving the wife would use an app to search for dog friendly hotels in the direction we were heading. Never had trouble finding a nice dog friendly hotel to stay at. Stayed at a different hotel every night. Ended up driving 6000 miles. Did a similar trip the following year only went up to Glacier, into Canada to Banff, back down to the Seattle area, then the Northern coast of California and then back home. Probably the best 2 vacations I've had.
