Bonpas - 6/29/2020 22:03 Yep. Hopefully?

My parents hate traveling with a set schedule.    Never on a family vacation did my parents ever book a motel room more than 24 hrs ahead of time.   Driving around looking for a vacancy at 8-10 pm was the normal.

Anyway on a particular family trip to the Black Hills we apparently got the last vacancy in Rapid City in the dumpiest/dirtiest/shadiest motel in the State of South Dakota, maybe the worst in the entire United States.     30+ years later and our family still talks about that trip/motel fairly often.

As a result of my parents, I don't travel anywhere without a reservation.

The interwebs are wonderful, other than camping in a tent at Oshkosh while traveling a search for hotel with "bar, swimming pool, and 4 stars or better review" usually seems to please everybody in the  car.  But interestingly enough, we are right now contemplating a trip in the same direction Bonpas is talking about.  Might be a mix of different lodging accommodations if we do.
