WCMO-SWMO Area | turdypointbuck - 6/29/2020 09:57 I'm going to watch things burn up and drink beer. The next 15 days look like mid 90's with no rain..That will sure toast the corn....Only had .75" of rain since May 26th.

Massey1155 - 6/29/2020 08:14 200 bu in my area is a crop failure. I’m in NW Iowa also. I don’t know how long you have been farming but I’m thinking you haven’t seen a crop failure. Maybe I’m wrong.

NW Indiana | There is a huge difference between knowing your COP vs cost to produce a bushel. I never know cost per bushel until after harvest, it amazes me those that claim they do.

northern edge of north central Missouri | Ok. I did some math. I “need” 3.75 cash. Now what?

NW Iowa | Started row crop in 2000, seen dry and wet, and yes 200 bu COC is a crop failure to me. In 2012 still did over 220 COB, if you want, come over i'll show you my aph. Started some COC 5 yrs ago, all COC 4 yrs, last yr of beans did 75bu with one field over 100bu. I'm not hard to find if you want to call my bluff. 4th gen farmer, you can't love it unless you live it. NW IA is a big place, ground couple miles away can be completely different. My ground is probably not your ground. Have i seen sub 200 bu corn, hell yes, but in my dirt, in today's environment, yes under 200 bu corn would be a crop failure. SE IL | kst1 - 6/29/2020 07:08 Where have they ever said they are geniuses? Where has any other group estimated the total production or demand better? In fact, no one tries to hit the real numbers, they try to hit the USDA's. That's a decent standard, no matter how much you bitch about it on here. 15 billion bushels of supply, 15 billion bushels of demand, and you whine that they were off 300 million. I'd hate to be your wife. dang it kst I just blew my beer all over the screen lol

| So you are saying you can’t make money on 200 bu corn ? Maybe we have different ideas of what a disaster is. | |||

NW Barton County Missouri | I've had nearly 40" for the year but none in June. If the corn makes 30bu I'd be surprised. She's gonna try next week.

SC Miinnesota | Sorry not all corn is grown in Illinois and Indiana. Southern MN and northern Iowa were huge last year and will be bigger this year with normal weather

NW Iowa | I think you misunderstand what i'm saying. I'm saying with the good dirt, if i do my part in taking care of the crop, under 200 bu is a crop failure. With black dirt with high organic matter growing above 200 bu corn isn't hard. 200bu x $3.5= 700 , that's about break even on COC with the rent in my area. To me crop failure is tied into price. If you don't market well, you can't bu your way out of it.
