North west MN | I used Ag Data viewer last year. I can try to explain how I used it for ditch planning. First I logged elevation data with trimble and Agleader RTK. I used a laptop, Ipaq, and a agleader Yield monitor to log the data. I found the best data I logged was when I used the pickup with the laptop after harvest running every 40 feet and also running every ditch with its own pass. Then I would bring the data into Ag Data Viewer and process the points. Then I would bring the laptop with me into the field when ditching. Ag data viewer lets you look at many aspects of the field one at a time or many at a time. What view I found most useful was to have the elevation in the background covered up by the watersheds then the depressions on top of the watersheds and flow paths on the top of that. When ditching I would go to depression stay in the watershed and follow the flow path. I use a laser for scraper control. If you have logged the ditches right you can figure out grade with the Ag Data viewer without using the laser to survey and it will graph the ditch and tell you how much dirt you have to move and what grade to use.
