It is a system that ties the internal 3-point lift cylinder together in series with a remote cylinder for alternative draft control. 90-plus percent of owners don't know what it is or how to use it, so it usually just sits there useless. I have used it in the past as a way to power single acting cylinders with the 3-point handle when I needed just one more remote valve - kinda handy that way.
#2) Best advice there is to convert the couplers to the "leverless" style. Not sure if NH still sells those of not. The hardest part is unscrewing the outer nut to pull the barrels out.
