All depends on how big of a screen you grind with and how fast you want to put meal in.


We have 1 place that we have to (currently, it should get changed) put SBM in through the mill.   We grind with a 5/32" screen and the SBM auger is a 6" auger.     We can not get meal to go through that screen fast enough to keep up with the 6" auger.     

We take the screen out for every load which is kind of a PITA but with loads that use a lot of SBM its faster than slowing the auger down to the point that it will go through the screen.


Everywhere else we put the SBM in through the supplement hopper and that is much preferred over going through the mill.
