Well one cow usually isn't hardly worth filing, it works better when there's like 6 dead cows under a tree.

I would ask the agent to show in the policy where it is your reponsibility to hire a vet to say it's lightning. If he can't, tell him you are filing a claim then. If he says you can't, then ask who it is that you need to call and talk to because he's telling you something not in the policy.

They don't make you have an expert before you file a crop insurance claim.

You don't have to have your house examined by an expert to file a hail damage claim.

Instead you file a claim and they determine to their satisfaction, maybe it's a noncovered type of loss, but you shouldn't have to prove it to even file.

If anyone hires the vet, it should be them.
