Northern IN | Just bought a Stx280 same deal. Crawled under her and was able to wiggle the yoke going to the trans just a fuzz. Called case out and tech said it’s the dampener and u joint I was still leaning to the yoke. Changed the dampener and inspected unjointed which was fine and tight and still the chatter at idle. Told tech I wanted a new yoke! I got curious and tore into it and found wear between the yoke and retainer plate there are shims in there to make a tight fit. Replaced with new yoke and retainer and original 4 shims and walla no more chatter!!!!! Only noise I hear now is the sweet melody of that Cummins!!!
