I have no idea whether trucking would cost most of the loads value or could really be done profitably?
I saw an ad on bookface that was looking to buy up to 7 loads a week for 4 weeks time . Wanted 300 pound fats. They said Oregon.
So what is cash price of hogs today? And cost of trucking to Oregon coast as worst case senario?
Takes some serious digging - - - - but - - - - you might look for a company that has pots where they also back haul freight.
One quite local does that - - - so they haul stock to say the sow slaughter in IA and then freight back.
Sometimes the route isn't a back and forth but more like a triangle - - whatever - - - but a company like that sometimes offers better rates for stock hauling (likely not much but that is also life!). |
