I buttoned it back up after looking inside, with everything surface mounted on the PC board, there was nothing obvious like a diode (I am an electrical engineer but out of the field for 20 years) . They should have a diode in series as well; this will not conduct if reverse polarity. If it has a diode to blow fuse, the diode blew to save the fuse. Looks like it is back to ag leader. Poor design
I agree with your idea of a diode in series to prevent flow in the reverse direction but my observation is that this is not always done that way. I'm not familiar with the Compass but generally Ag Leader is very careful with their color code. Always connect their red wire to +12V. |
