| Thats funny you brought that up. I was helping AI some cows this morning and I was looking at all the older stuff in the tank. We have an 8 year old donor that doesn’t owe us a thing, getting ready to flush next week. I asked our herdsman “What about flushing her to Freeway?” Thats a bull we bought from Bear Tooth back in 1997 that had absolutely great daughters, but died as a 4 year old. Herdsman said “yeahhhh, I don’t know. She don’t produce many oocytes and this might be our last shot. Plus it will take 4 generations to get the EPD’s right.” Looked up the pedigree and he was totally right. We have an 8 year old cow with 25 rock solid progeny, and a 20 year old bull that we still talk about today because of the females he left us and we’re scared to put them together....
I might dig around and see if we have AHIR data on the bulls we sold out of him years ago just to see how it compares to today.
