S.E. Washington | Yes the steering is much improved. I am now able to auto steer with an old ez steer setup.
I had multiple hydraulic issues that also contributed to my issue that made it hard to steer. A failed relief valve was leaking and a steering cylinder was leaking internally. Fixing those made it steer easier but still slow. Replacing the steering valve/ metering pump with a larger one made it steer faster.
You have the opposite issue and likely need a smaller cc unit to steer slower and smoother. A good hydraulic shop should be able to tell you if that's possible.
I'm guessing you have full auto pilot? If I recall correctly the steigers use a separate auto pilot valve? It shouldn't be affected and may still be jerky on auto pilot. I would think that could be handled with calibration, but maybe not.
Nobody wants to help with steering because of liability, modify at your own risk. Just relating what I did on mine with the help of some knowledgeable older guys. | |
