S.E. Washington | I had the opposite problem on the Big Bud, steering was slow and heavy. There are a few things that affect the speed of the steering system,
1, the cc's of oil delivered per revolution of the metering pump that's hooked to the steering wheel.
2, the size of the steering cylinders.
3, the hydraulic pressure.
To speed ours up we went with a higher cc steering metering pump, and we set our hydraulic pressure up to max spec.
In your situation, I think the adjustable orifice on the left and right steering lines might work but I expect that will build heat in the system.
I would be more inclined to pull the metering pump off and have it rebuilt with a lower cc pump. If that is built like the ones I've been around, it should be possible to do. | |
