Subject: RE: Trac tractors good bad ugly

Our operation has almost exclusively run yellow track tractors since 1990,, this spring we acquired 9430 John Deere 4 wheel drive fully weighted up with 800 metrics for a grain cart and light tillage.. decided to try it out pulling our summers supercoulter, and wow, I could not believe what a gutless dog it is and the amount of slippage was about 4 to 10%...what a joke.
I would say that it's pulling capacity is equal to our row crop Challenger with about hundred less horsepower. and it was showing using 5 gallons of fuel per hour more than the track machine. That being said, it is a very nice ride going down the road, and pulling a Land roller or harrow. And a nice quiet cab when it isn't wound up looking for any sort of torque.. people who drive green and red tractors don't have a clue what torque is until you operate the caterpillar c18,, although the yellow ones are surely not Cadillacs to operate
