  cheat grass always did better as a cover than rye in this area. Kinda had to quit planting when going to a wheat rotation. Otherwise i would still plant it.   grows better than rye where it's wet or late planted and doesn't have the upper growth of rye but has a good root system.. was easy to control going to corn or rr beans.
