Subject: RE: Two track tractor opinions

SE VA/NE NC
I have 2 2010 8345rts and an 8430. Both RTs have aftermarket cab air suspensions and factory chassis suspensions so my opinion is a little skewed vs full factory.

Field work under 7mph, best ride barely goes to ILS.
Field work over 7mph, best ride RT.
Road negligible, slight edge to ILS
Any type of field pipe/bridge or railroad track or nonpaved road, HOLD ONTO YOUR DAMN BRITCHES in the RT. The overcenter very easily, and you feel every bogey wheel scream at you.
Turning in dry tilled ground, RT turns nice and tight, back into any corner on a dime, minimal berming.
Turning on no till i prefer wheels
Turning in wet or loose ground i prefer wheels, tracks get to berming bad (18" for me)

Maintenance on non-track related items are much easier to access on tracks at 120"

So far i have one that steers great on autosteer and one has a slight pull that really messa with things. JD hasnt figured it out.

Right now in our field we have a 26' cultivator on an RT that is turning into his next set of tracks with only one headland pass with minimal berming (dry), and my final pass is the wheeled tractor so i see no indentions. Planting with the other RT thats loaded like a whale. 40' bar and i turn 80' to avoid ruts. It has a lot to do with your weight and ground wetness, and need a little more mindful operator than wheels.

Grain cart, RT hands down. Id prefer 24-30" tracks though.

Any heavy pull in wet ground other than the cart, tires.

Also, if you get an RT stuck, better have a wheeled tractor to pull it out or you may have two RTs stuck. And when they go down, its a mess.
