Faunsdale, AL | Squiggly thing is a coil for a contactor. The 5b and 5br are the control circuit from the ignition switch to the contactor/relay.
You can add a battery disconnect in the ground cable from the batteries if you want one.
B wire between Starter and alternator is hot all the time the relay is closed. Pretty standard arrangement except most machines won’t even have that big relay between batteries and starter.
The old fashioned inertial bendix starters (like an old Ford but bigger) would have a big relay like that to control the starter, but the alternator output B wire would connect to the battery side of that relay instead of the starter.
The Komstsu design as drawn in the diagram is an incomplete battery disconnect (It disconnects all the high amperage stuff but leaves a control/ignition circuit powered so you don’t have to switch it manually.
