Since Trump took office, the EPA has more than quadrupled the number of waivers it has granted to refineries, including some operated by giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron Corp, saving the oil industry hundreds of millions of dollars, but enraging farmers who say the exemptions threaten demand for one of their staple products.
EPA has quadrupled the number of waivers, as compared to Obama Administration. Iowa has two U.S. Senators, Grassley and Ernst. They both voted to confirm EPA heads Pruitt and Wheeler. Pruitt and Wheeler have blessing of Ernst and Grassley.
Grassley and Ernst are the two Senators from the largest corn growing state in the nation, Iowa. The two Iowa Senators could be leading charge to raise RFS numbers and make every vehicle E-85 compliant. But the Oil Industry owns the Republican Party. Iowa's Senators are Republicans, not Iowans. Iowa's economy is 20% agriculture. Amazes me that 2 US Senators can continually undermine 20% of a state's economy.
Blaming EPA, blaming Trump is nice. But the US Senate allows it to happen. Iowa's two Senators voted to help EPA do what they are doing.
