Subject: RE: Changing ethanol stance

Boone Co. Iowa
Ethanol the business model has failed, because it has always been a political football. George Bush got it going, even though he was from Texas, because so much trouble in the Middle East.

Now, with fracking making oil (and gasoline) so cheap, we don't need middle east oil.

Ethanol the product in the tank has always been a success. Cheapest octane source available. At least, that isn't a stright up poison.

Ethanol challenging Chevron, Exxon, etc. has not worked. Politically they are too strong.

If we want to increase demand for ethanol, either 1) allow it to compete at the pump, i.e. make sure there is an abundance of locally owned gas stations who can purchase from a free market of energy sources, or 2) allow big oil to get half of all ethanol profits by owning ethanol. And by ownership, I mean owning all the ethanol refinerys.

Competing with Big Oil in today's ethanol/gasoline market is apparently a big loser for ethanol. We had a number of ethanol producing plants shut down or go to very slow grind because oil is so cheap.

Ted Cruz beats Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley all the time, and ethanol is a big loser because of it.
