Central WA
Figure out a way to use it and find alternate uses for the land.......we will never "set-aside" our way to prosperity. Every attempt to hold a price artificially high here results in someone elsewhere in the world being able to add acres in their region if their cost structure is simply a little lower than here. Setting aside ground here is probably the single most effective foreign aid program this country ever enacted. It gave Brazil the largest soybean industry in the world, expanded corn acreage in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, South Africa, Ukraine, and a host of smaller players. We won't even begin to mention how it distorted the world-wide wheat trade. The best cure for low prices is low prices. Study New Zealand and how they fixed their over-production problems. Hint: it wasn't by set-aside.
