No that does not seem right. 

I have it on front top of cab on a MT.

Too me that would be very hard to set up because of the swing in the front of a track tractor.  You want it as close to the pivot point as you can get.  Front of cab works good. 

Just like they say put it as close to the front ax on a artic as you can because the cab moves side to side when you steer.
