Subject: RE: A couple of interesting articles on the Seed Industry

Glasgow, Ky

I remember the days before RR beans and corn and it is not a good memory.   I was very reluctant to plant GMO seed but had to do it to stay competitive.  Why?   Because a majority of other farmers had already adopted the technology.

In the business world we can vote.  We do it with our pocketbooks.  If  people are convinced that companies such as Monsanto are evil then they need to voice their displeasure by not patronizing them.

I don't like the fact that Monsanto is purchasing smaller seed companies.  I  also don't like the fact that BTO's are putting smaller farmers out of business but that is the way it is.

Whether we agree or disagree with the way Monsanto is operating their business we do need to give them credit for their innovations and for making our jobs easier and more profitable. They spend a tremendous amount of money each year on research and the evolution of new products takes many years.

We have reason to be concerned but also have reason to be thankful.
