Here in Nw. Ia. the most popular in my experience selling hay has been mixed alfalfa and orchard grass.

In some cases the more grass the better. Guys starting calves really like the 50/50 mix that horse hay buyers prefer.

And since it often comes up here, I have never had a problem getting paid since I went from buying hay to raising it for sale 12 years ago.
