NW Iowa | This will help you guys who want to convert your tractors. Especially if you have dealers not up on it.
I have done enough hyd units, to know you can shave some steps and time off these instructions.
Agco directions are for safety and ease of installation. If you don't want to remove the hyd block you can plug the lines. It just cleans it up if you do.
I can swap out a rear hyd unit with a new hyd unit in 15-20 min and a set of fronts in 2 hrs.
It's not listed for the C series or early 8600 but will work on them. '09-'11
If you have the older cab (narrow pre '09 air bags), they still use that basic cab design on the smaller Challenger 500 and 7000 series Massey. Spring options for them is in the parts books. Would have to do some research to see if they fit easy or need modification. But the air bags were good enough in my book not to need a conversion.
This will be a close price depending on dealer
ACX2325850 519.00
ACX2326610 1,486.00
ACX2326600 1,551.00
I have been asked about removing front units, here is how I do it.
Left side removal
Drive the tractor up on a block, tipping the tractor to fill side, pump the fuel out. Get it down to one bar flashing or till you can’t get any fuel out. If def tank is low it will help for left side removal (I have moved assembly with full DEF tank. Take the step assembly off, remove bottom tank holder, remove main bolt in center of tank behind tire, unbolt the DEF heater by engine rail ( you can stretch it far enough), remove fuel tank crossover on right side fuel tank ( will still be some fuel, use 5 gal pale to catch) and bend up and cap. Pick up left tank and def tank together( drain on DEF will catch if not lifted up slightly), then slide front half away until back half touches tire.
For right side removal
remove batteries, unbolt cross support, unbolt bottom fuel tank retainer, and slide away from transmission.
No need to fully remove both tanks, just slide out as far as possible and support.
Slide big bolt or round stock in cab travel bumper to keep from settling when removing unit. I have found you can remove one unit on front or rear pair without it moving much.( I still slide a blocking bolt in)
If you don't want to put a bolt in to hold the cab, you can let the front and back down on the cab susp valve. Push in on the top of solenoid and they will lower. I don't like having it all the way down, I like having room to move those fuel tanks around
