SWMO | The field chosen for the test was one of our worst hit for timing of a heat/dry spell during last of june and the maturity of the variety (DK61-69). Three weeks of little/no rain plus 5 days of high 90s to 100 degrees combined with tasseling/pollenation and thinner soils made pineapple stalks. But thats life in my part of the country. Since then, July has been cooler but still only 2 inches of rain.
The yields may not be as high as other fields, even 2-3 mile down the road, but ultimately it may prove to be a good test considering the stress it went thru. My gut feeling is that the tillage factor will not have as much as an effect as N utilization. Stress seemed to hit all replications equally.
The first and last pics are mid june and the middle two are 10 days later. Harvest should be in 2-3 weeks (25 percent moisture now).
