I've never been concerned with a "spacing problem."  The two things that sent us to 15" instead of the drills are depth control and reduced time screwing around with unit settings every time you move a half mile or into a different soil type.  The wider spacing and resulting closer spacing in the row also helps with emergence in crusting conditions.
