| Cant 100% guarantee as I dont like to diagnose without a firsthand in field look, but that appears to be Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) and there is not a thing you can do that will really help at THIS point in time. Certain varieties claim to have SDS resistance or at least tolerance, but under the right amount of stress it really doesn't matter. Starting to see it in many areas. That looks fairly progressed, like the symptoms have been present for a week or two.
As for an acres or two, probably the wettest or higher stressed area? Will it spread, well the infection happened earlier than NOW, and it doesn't spread like a foliar disease because it is soil borne. As for management; varieties, drainage, compaction, overall stress from weather, nutrient deficiencies, insects, or additional diseases all impact infection and severity.
It could also be brown stem rot, have to cut the stem open to tell. Let us know.
