First of all try a sack of alfalfa in the effected areas as you may be one of the few growers who is not effected by the auto toxicity factor.
For your next alfafal planting use a varietie that has both highly resistance to phyotherathia (spelling) PRR aka wet foot root rot as well as a R or HR resistance rating for aphomycies aph. The combination improves the PRR resistance effectiveness.
Other than that follow the above ideas.
