Central NE | I interseeded red clover into drown out spots in the spring a couple of times and got a few years of production out of them. Yield was 2/3 of alfalfa and I had to bale it a day later to let it dry, but it was great feed with leaves the size of a half dollar and at least it kept the weeds out. Last fall I planted triticale where the creek overflowed and had killed alfalfa. It produced a lot of tonnage and the cows really ate it up (grazed some, baled most) , but again I had to bale it seperate for marketing reasons. Where I interseeded into better alfalfa on the edges, both grew well, the alfalfa stood more erect, but I saw more grass pressure in those alfalfa areas after I cut the triticale off. | |
