Subject: Re: With all this refuge talk..Frankenfood?

Agriculture does not have the best track record in regards to following regulations when it comes to genetically modified crops. Starlink and the recent rice problem come to mind. I think that here have been others. What studies have been done to prove that there is no need for refuges? Is this information proofed and valid but not reviewed and accepted by the EPA or has it not been taken to the EPA? Or have no studies been done? I bet that there are studies being done. The companies with the traits would like to be eligble for 100% of the acres. This subject and it's dicussion appears to me to be a case of 'looking for the means to justify the end'.
What is really being gained in the end by going 100% RW CB? If the drag on the 20% is 20 bushel per acre then that comes to 4 bpa on the total acreage. Your using insecticde on the refuge so that cost is a wash but you are saving the BT cost. Quite honestly, other than the hassle, what is the big deal???
