Thud, I still have the 20 series row units. The 25s came out a couple of years later. The advantages of 25s over 20s are heavier construction, more down pressure, and a finger type seed delivery system.

The twenty series probably can be brought in to 6" to 6.5", however changing inner gauge wheels/openers on the trailing unit might be difficult. I think the 25s series probably cannot go any closer, but I am guessing.

I'd recommend calling Great Plains direct, and they probably will answer any questions. I have found them to be very accommodating. Also, monnosem (unsure of the spelling, blue planters) make a twin rows, you might look at their planters.

I think the University of Nebraska has done some work on 15" wheat, and a few of my neighbors/insured's planted wheat with their Case/IH soybean drills (row units on 15" rows) this fall.

If you would like the phone number to a couple of contacts at Great Plains in Salina, Kansas, email me and I will send them.
