North Central Iowa | Easiest to take cover off timing cover to see pump timing mark behind the pump drive gear. If you line up the degrees on flywheel for injection timing, the pointer on pump should line up at same time.
Dont recall timing, but say if it is 18° btdc , line that up with engine degree pointer. The pump pointer should line up at same time.....if it's right.
When you take pump to injection shop. Tell them you want pump on same firing that it is that you brought it in. You may be on 1 or 6. Make sure you do this. It will make it easier for you going back on.
After you have timing set to remove pump. Take the 3 bolts out of pump drive gear and remove, then you can take pump off. That's how I do it. Easier to slide out, and that is how you need to put it back on.
It will all make sense then how you fine tune pump degrees by turning big nut on pump and tighten 3 bolts in gear on to pump.
Yellow is pump timing Mark. Blue is pump pointer. They will line up when engine is at correct degree btdc for pump timing.
