| Have an issue going on with a 3020 gas engine that's been going on a while. The tractor runs perfect until you run the rpm up to the 2000rpm range a while. It is most noticed when driving in 8th down the road. I will get 3/4 mile away & the engine will start to back fire & blow lots of black smoke & die. Engine acts like there is a heavy load on it. No way to keep the engine running when it starts doing this.
Nothing is siezing up. push clutch in & it rolls normal.
Funny thing is you can restart the engine right up after this happens & it runs fine but 1600 rpm is about the rpm limit before it starts to pop & fart again.
have not noticed this when doing other jobs but the tractor is pretty much a wagon runner so does not get heavy use.
Any ideas?
