I always chirp in on these threads so probably sick of me but pits are great but make sure you are not fighting a high water table. In our area the only way I would do it is with a full basement with insert. I would use a drag conveyor to take it away. If you do a auger pit, make sure you can pull auger easily as augers wear a lot faster when they are run more vertical like a pit requires. Make sure you tile basement but have a system to keep fines and crap from gradually filling up tile. Any open intake can be a place for rodents and bees wings to screw up drainage. We have went to large legs and small pits because of our water table.
