WC Iowa | Unless you need extreme cold weather cranking, I'd try a single group 31 truck battery in the LH box. This eliminates the crossover cable.
Use the original RH ground strap. Have parts store make a good new short positive cable from LH battery to starter. Done.
We have done this set up on a 4440, 4430, and 4230. All start better than they ever did with the 2 6s and seem to have plenty of cranking power for us "here".
If you want to get both new cables I'd go with a stud type battery vs posts but I'm cheap and just reused the original ground strap. | |
