WCIL | We have an 09 9430 with about 3200 hrs. It is a strong tractor and comfortable cab and controls. Ours is powershift and we get along great with it and would do again. Last 2 tractors had 24 sp and nothing wrong with those either. They have a high and low which is handy for tough spots or hills. Downside is the bad water pump design that can fail and put pieces in the engine. They recommend a 2000 hour-ish preventative replacement. Also the fan drive pulley bearings can go out. That can be checked with a pry bar to find up and down play. Also ours got hard to start like it wasn't getting fuel. After dealer replaced a slightly weak fuel pump and a check valve it seemed to be fixed but acted up again. Got Deere factory involved and they put on a new computer to try at no cost and that did not help. Ended up recommending new injectors and cups and so far its working except for a couple times per year. No pattern to it, doesn't make sense. So in summary, I would check on the water pump history, fan drive maintenance, and if any injector work has been done. We started having trouble at 2800 hrs with the fan drive and injectors. Very disappointing to have several thousand dollars in fixes on a low houred tractor. Not our usual experience, but a search on here will find we aren't the only ones. If previous owner has done these things, you should be good to go for a while. Good luck. | |
