This may not be for everyone. Its totally a voluntary offer. In you case, it may be too much to sort out if your cropping system is gaining or looseing carbon and there for its health?
If your farming system is gaining carbon and healthy it likely will also qualify for sequestrated carbon payments?
One of the unknowns is just what is the market price for carbon offsets. NORI is offering $15/mtCO2e aka NRTs and they have buyers of the same. IndigoAG suggests that they will pay $15/mtCO2 as well but their process is totally a different pathway. NORI seems to me to be more like other commodity transaction.
The daily aggregated price noted in the link in the origination post above suggests the current mtCO2e price to be $22/mt for carbon credits that have earned their certifications for international trade. If you are following the larger conversation around carbon price, several states and NET ZERO communities are suggesting $45/mtCO2e. And if you are back East the power companies are looking at $250/mtCO2e to pump CO2 deep into underground sequestration.
The Maryland farmer that helped build NORI around 14,000 NRT received around $95,000 for their efforts.
If the libitards or eco-nuts or NET ZERO corporations are willing to pay you $30, $50 or more per acre for what you likely already doing, well seems like an interesting opportunity? I am just trying to share what I have learned.
Both NORI and IndigoAG are just trying to pay those that are involved with soil health. Again, this is not for everyone particularly if the whole soil health thing not in your particular interest?

From COMET-FARM - Quantifying Greenhouse Gas Fluxes in Agriculture and Forestry: Methods for Entity-Scale Inventory America’s farm, ranch and forest managers are stewards of the land, and have long recognized the significance of managing soil health, plant productivity and animal nutrition. Conservation practices and other management changes can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increase carbon storage while improving soil health, crop or livestock productivity, and resilience to drought and other extreme weather. This report lays out methods for estimating changes in GHG emissions and carbon storage at a local scale. The methods in the report will be used to develop user-friendly tools for farmers, ranchers, forest landowners and other USDA stakeholders to help them evaluate the GHG benefits of a wide variety of management practices.
Why should I use COMET-Farm™? COMET-Farm estimates the ‘carbon footprint’ for all or part of your farm/ranch operation and allows you to evaluate different options, which you select, for reducing GHG emissions and sequestering more carbon. General guidance is provided about potential changes to your management practices that are likely to sequester carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Because the tool uses detailed spatially-explicit data on climate and soil conditions for your location and allows you to enter detailed information for your field and livestock operations, it is able to produce an accurate estimate tailored to your specific situation. No prior training is needed to run the tool and embedded ‘Help’ functions are provided to assist you in running the tool. You may use COMET-Farm in one of two ways – as a registered or unregistered user. Regardless of the method you choose, the USDA will not use, share, or view your information. You are the only person who is able to see your information. Registered Users - Data stored for later use Registering allows you to store your management information safely and securely, so that you may later return to update your information or try other management scenarios. The USDA will not use, share, or view your information; nor will any other user of the tool. Please see the Privacy Policy for more information.
Unregistered Users - Data purged immediately after use Although registering allows you to conveniently store and later retrieve your management information, we recognize that not all users feel comfortable with this. You may continue without registering and the information you enter during this session will be purged and not stored permanently. If you change your mind at any time during your session, simply click on the Register link at the top right of the application and we will store any information previously entered.
