A backhoe is one of those tools that is a jack of all trades but a master of none. Having said that they do work pretty good for tile connections.

Get a dozer and a rake is your ticket for roots. You don't really want to rubber-tired machine out there following tree removal.
Track skid loader might be the second option

I’ve got a 310SJ Deere. Only piece of equipment I’ve ever owned that I 100% hate with every cell in my body besides a Deere gator which I’m thinking had to be a lemon. Going to go back to a regular loader tractor and rent a mini ex when needed. Do all my heavy dirt work with an old Fiat Allis crawler loader now anyway.
